About The Engineer
Munya Matema is a Melbourne-based musician and record producer with an ear for sound. Munya’s interest in music grew from Hip-Hop, RnB, Soul and Jazz but that hasn’t stopped him reaching for sounds and textures from different genres and palettes in order to increase his versatility.
Although primarily self-taught, Munya studied Music Performance and Production at JMC Academy and has worked with some of Melbourne’s up and coming artists in singer-songwriters Hazel Sea, Arjae and Claudia Santos, as well as with London-based produced Chris Hyson.
In 2023, ‘want me too’ (produced and mixed by Munya Matema) a single of the EP ‘blue skies & reflections’ by Hazel Sea & Munya Matema was a winner of the RSOM Song of the Year award.
